Heh,

Partially due to Seism's insanely prodigous output, looks like we sneaked up to 2,000 total items in the Archive's netlabels section, from a total of over 75 netlabels - in way less than a year of collection development.

Thanks again to all the amazing artists and label-owners who make this freely distributable music possible, and let's keep going and see how many pieces of free, Creative Commons-licensed music we can put up for download - yay!

Regards,
Simon.

Considering you could make 50+ noises releases everyday if you felt like it ... 2000 would be easy for Seism alone. >:/
Anyways ... congrats on the great and hard work. I only hope everyone else appreciates the new sounds like I do.
*thumbs up*

I would love to have some simple system to get an idea of what is in the collection. Any ideas that would be easy? sort of like a radio station with a fast-forward button would work for me.

I'd imagine having a M3U that's randomly generated from every single existing M3U release (perhaps favoring the highest-quality M3U for derived MP3 releases) would work, if time can be found to code it.

Something more crafted than random would be great. it would also be great to have annotations, as to why this is a selection to listen to, etc.

Ah, I see what you mean. I have some ideas for compilations, then - I'll work on them as time permits.

not sure if this is what you are looking for, but try www.betterpropaganda.com

you can read reviews of music and then download the singles for free--i think it's cool that you can put all of this music directly into your mp3 player and then check it out, find what you like, come back to it....

I keep up with all the new releases by using my RSS aggregator. It comes in real handy when I'm checking out music for my netlabel radio show. What? You haven't heard of SquaresCubed (here comes shameless plug)? We, Marc and I, broadcast a 1 hour radio show devoted to the netlabel music scene out of McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario Canada. Currently we have one show available for download on archive.org here. You can also visit squarescubed.com do download the last 2 weeks worth of shows. I know its not really an answer the this particular issue but every little bit helps.
